Harrison House

Back in early September 2014, back from Burning Man, my friend Julien invited us for a little indian summer barbecue, in the Harrison House he’s living in with his family for a little while. An opportunity for me to catch some of the atmosphere of this really original architecture specimen.
This house, located in San Rafael CA, was built in 1963 by Beverley “David” Thorne, it’s part of the Case Study Houses project. These were experiments in American residential architecture sponsored by Arts & Architecture magazine, which commissioned major architects of the day, including Richard Neutra, Raphael Soriano, Craig Ellwood, Charles and Ray Eames, Pierre Koenig, Eero Saarinen, A. Quincy Jones, and Ralph Rapson to design and build inexpensive and efficient model homes for the United States residential housing boom caused by the end of World War II and the return of millions of soldiers..
